Bison Restoration on the Blackfeet Reservation

This project focuses on the reintroduction and sustainable management of bison on the Blackfeet Reservation, and aims to restore a self-sustaining bison population. Additionally, this study focuses on how bison restoration will influence wetland biodiversity and how predators and climate change influence bison reintroduction success (such as the effect of extreme heat on thermoregulation, insect harassment, and reduced forage). This project also aims to strengthen cultural heritage and ecological balance on tribal lands.
